SIRC 2026

The Spokane Intercollegiate Research Conference (SIRC) is a conference sponsored by Whitworth and Gonzaga University for undergraduate students across Spokane to present their research and creative works.

This year’s conference will be held at Whitworth on Saturday, April 25th.  There is no entry fee, and it is open to the public. All majors, projects, and years are welcome. It’s important for events like these to have a wide breadth of people and projects, spanning first-year research papers to senior capstone projects.

There are three types of presentation designations, Poster Presentation, Oral Presentation, and Creative Work. Poster presentations are free-standing self-contained, visual presentations and can be presented in about 7 minutes. Oral Presentations are more traditional and may or may not have a visual aid. These works can be presented in about 10-12 minutes. Creative Work encapsulates a number of categories, from visual art, dance, music, or creative writing. Creative Works will take no longer than 15 minutes to present.

SIRC is a great opportunity for undergraduate students to present their work and beef-up their CV’s. Presenting at the relatively low-stakes environment of SIRC also will help build student confidence to apply for and present at larger conferences across the nation. SIRC is a key element in Spokane’s scholarly community and helping to build and grow students’ abilities.
