BIO:

My name is Adrian Petrillo, and I am from Portland, Oregon. I am a graduating senior who studied engineering here at Whitworth,  and I also played for the Whitworth men’s soccer team in my time here. In addition, over my four years, I have worked as the Japanese Language Department Teacher’s Assistant, and for the print shop here on campus.

My long-term professional goal is to pursue a career as a patent attorney here in the Pacific Northwest. I am excited to start taking steps towards that goal by attending Seattle University School of Law this coming fall.

MAJOR: Engineering

Project Overview: Growing up, I attended a Japanese immersion school, so I have been learning the language since I was a child. However, upon graduation without any more opportunity for classroom education, I had to turn to self-education to further my learning. This is where I discovered there was a severe lack of convenient language acquisition assistance tools for the Japanese language, and the ones that did exist were all hosted in different locations. That is the motivation for this project, where I aimed to create an all-in-one location for Japanese language learning tools to assist those partaking in self-study.

The website is not designed to feature lessons or coursework, rather, it is designed provide the user with tools such as dictionaries, verb conjugators, and things of that nature, which can assist with answering questions that naturally come up through study. The goal is to host the website as a free-to-use resource, which utilizes my own study experiences to enhance the experiences of others.
