Grammy-nominated vocalist performs with Whitworth students

This weekend, December 3rd, Tierney Sutton will be performing an original jazz song set based on Willa Cather’s novel, Song of the Lark. Tierney will be partnering with Whitworth’s Dr. Brent Edstrom, who composed the song, and will perform with the Whitworth Jazz Ensemble and the Whitworth Symphony Orchestra Strings.

The event will be preceded by a talk from Professor Guy Reynolds of the University of Nebraska, a Cather scholar. The talk will begin at 6:30pm in Cowles Music Center’s Myhre Recital Hall.

The event will begin at 8pm in Cowles Auditorium. Tickets are free for Whitworth students.

This concert will be a night full of musical entertainment, as well as an opportunity to expand your horizons through this experience. It provides a place for students, faculty, staff, and the community to hear from this amazing performer as well as learn about an American early-modern novelist. It also clearly demonstrates the Honors Program value of interdisciplinary work through the combination of literature and the musical arts.

Bring a friend and an open mind to experience this wonderful event!
