Life in Honors

Smithsonian Semester 2022

During the fall semester of 2024, a cohort of eight Honors students undertook an adventure to study and intern at the Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C. These students experienced growth and character building that will guide them in their future. Take a look at some pictures that represent the everyday life these students were able to experience. To learn more about this experience, view the reflections that students wrote about their trip!

Jan Term Honors Trip

In January of 2023, a group of freshman Honors students spent the semester exploring Italy, experiencing the culture, and learning in this historic country. These photos show some of the different sites they visited, art they saw, and fun times they had. Check out the blog posts to learn more! Photos provided by various students on the trip.

In January 2023 Cassidy Franklin, an Honors student, participated in a trip through Israel and Palestine learning about Middle Eastern culture and history. Read more about her experience by checking out her blog post!

Celia Hagey: Research Project

In Fall of 2021, Celia Hagey designed a project about Whitworth’s water rights for HN 300. HN 300 is a community-based research class that every Honors student must take in order to graduate. In the class, students are able to design projects related to their interests and their major, and then in HN 400 the students work with a faculty advisor to complete their project.

Honors Graduates

Honors students are not only exceptional while in college, they also go on to exceptional futures once they graduate. Here are a few of our Honors graduates who have gone onto work in STEM, humanities, and liberal arts fields. To read their stories, check out the news section of the blog!

Student Advisory Council

Over 15 different students have been part of the Student Advisory Council (SAC) since the foundation of the Honors program. These students serve both as the student voice for the Honors program as well as advisory members to the faculty for the students. Once completing their time in the SAC, these students go on to do bigger and better things. Keep your eyes open for openings to be involved in the SAC specifically, or the Honors program more broadly!
