Part of Convention prep is reading the Common Reader, which is Salvage the Bones by Jesmyn Ward. The book follows a Black family as the navigate in the days leading up to and after Hurricane Katrina. The family must wade through their inner conflicts and flood waters in this brilliant novel. Whitworth’s Chapter began an Asynchronous/”No Shame” Book Club open to anyone to join. Each week you read the recommended pages/chapters and respond to a question at the front desk of Westminster.
